History Exam Feedback

I’ve just come back from the exam, the questions were okay, but I didn’t have enough time.

I really wanted to finish with a quote from the radical William Cobbett: “I defy you to satisfy a fellow on a full stomach!”, however the woman said “Pens down. PENS. DOWN!” in that manner, so alas I could not. Well, I have to return to 6th form in approximately 5 hours to hand in my Art coursework. I’ve not completed it yet, but after relaxing and watching anime for an hour or so, I will begin to complete it. There’s little more to do now, just some further contextual on Dumas, afew quick out of book responses to Horsley, and an evaluation of my exam and whatnot. Should be fine, I hope. Needs afew more annotations too I think.

I’m very relieved to have that exam out of the way. It was one of the biggest stresses I’ve had for a while, as I had very little time to prepare for it. The questions I chose were:

1. In what ways did the 1832 Reform Act challenge the power of the landed elite?
2. How far does economic hardship explain popular support for reform in the period 1815-1830?

And they were good questions. I was able to elaborate and give examples of all sorts of things I somehow managed to remember, however towards the end I lost it abit due to lack of time. The exam was 55 minutes long… I really could have done with that extra 5 minutes… Or perhaps they could give you 5 minutes at the beginning to read through the paper and plan out in your head what you’re going to do, they did something like that in the GCSE Music exam last year, which was very helpful, as 5 of the 55 minutes allocated for this History Exam you’re having to spend thinking and planning.

Anyway, I’m off to watch anime and drink very strong coffee, before continueing with art. Probably will write more later.
